When it comes to removable fins there are many different manufacturers and fin systems on the market. Every fin system has their advantages and disadvantages but in general the major manufacturers are strong and reliable.
Here’s a guide to the most common fin systems on the market:
Fin Control Systems, better known as FCS, is a leading producer of quality fins worldwide. The fins are well-made, reliable and backed by the largest number of professional shapers and surfers in the world. Because of their fin plug design FCS fin plugs are more part of the surfboard construction, making them more resilient and less likely to break. Their selection of fins is huge and their performance is outstanding.
Futures fins are another high quality fin system. Futures fins only have one screw so they are easier and faster to install than FCS fins. They slot into the fin box making them a more reliable choice compared to FCS. They have a number of different materials and fin designs but they just haven’t been taken up by the majority of shapers. If you really want them on your new board you might have to custom order them, which will be more expensive.
